Rekha Gupta Named Delhi’s New Chief Minister, BJP Returns to Power After 27 Years.
In a historic political shift, Rekha Gupta has been elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party and will take oath as the next Chief Minister of Delhi. The announcement was made on Wednesday following a meeting of newly-elected BJP MLAs, attended by senior party leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankar.
Rekha Gupta, who secured victory from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, is set to take her oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan. Her appointment marks BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years, breaking the long-standing rule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
With this victory, Rekha Gupta will also make history as the fourth woman to serve as Delhi’s Chief Minister, reinforcing BJP’s commitment to women leadership and governance.
Her tenure is expected to bring new policies, governance reforms, and a fresh approach to the national capital’s administration. All eyes are now on the upcoming oath-taking ceremony, which will mark a new political chapter for Delhi.
